How do you stand out among 1,500 other vehicles? While many newcomers have increasingly chosen the “more is more” approach to oust each other at SEMA, veterans understand that sometimes it’s best to break through the noise instead of aiming to break the Internet. That thought process led Turn 14 Distribution, the industry-leading aftermarket distributor, to choose an often overlooked model from Toyota’s SUV lineup: the Sequoia TRD Pro as its latest canvas. With support from the aftermarket industry that it understands and helps flourish, the distributor aims to transform this SUV from off-road capable to off-road conquering.

FACTS AND FIGURES

Toyota has homogenized its SUV and truck lineup nicely toward this boxy, muscular aesthetic and the Sequoia is no exception. The restyling effort allows each platform to take on mods rather well—especially those geared toward off-road use. The body-on-frame Sequoia TRD Pro sits atop the Toyota SUV food chain, boasting a 437hp/583 lb-ft twin-turbo V6 hybrid, 10-speed auto, and off-road-ready suspension with FOX shocks and a TRD Pro front stabilizer bar. Underneath, 18” TRD Pro matte-black forged-aluminum BBS wheels immediately distinguish it from its Sequoia siblings. The Solar Octane—which shifts between Orange and Red depending on lighting situations—is one of the boldest colors, which also makes it look more naturally aggressive than more muted choices, like our out-going Tundra.

LAND DOWN UNDER

If that Tundra was any indication, Turn 14 Distribution’s plans for the Sequoia are ambitious. To help the distributor achieve its aims, it sought a Title Partner who understood the unique demands of true off-road duty. That search led it to SuperPro, an innovative, suspension upgrade manufacturing leader for off-road and overland markets. SuperPro is based in Brisbane, Queensland, and like most of the trusted brands, it conducts all engineering and manufacturing on-site to ensure it can consistently produce the best quality products.

SuperPro has recognized that the Sequoia has evolved in its most recent refresh—it is no longer the soft, pedestrian people hauler of old—and wears the crown for Toyota’s most natively off-road capable SUV in the range. As such, SuperPro has paid immense respect and attention to the Sequoia, promising a full suite of upgrades to improve upon the factory recipe. That commitment made them the perfect Title Partner for Turn 14 Distribution’s goals. Plus, the Turn 14 Distribution x SuperPro Sequoia has a nice ring to it and sets the stage nicely for all of the other upgrades we have in store for the truck.
