Down By the Coos Bay: Turn 14 Distribution Hits the Oregon Dunes with UTV Takeover

There are plenty of reasons to get behind the wheel of a UTV, but none quite like UTV Takeover. What starts as a passion for exploring the outdoors transforms into a week-long celebration of racing, trail riding, cutting-edge products, and the community that brings it all together. It’s the event riders look forward to all year. Whether chasing podium finishes, testing the latest upgrades, or simply looking for another excuse to throw sand, UTV Takeover offers something for everyone.

Coos Bay, Oregon, provides the perfect backdrop to kick off the UTV Takeover event series. Nearly 40 miles of towering sand bowls, beach runs, and technical wooded trails combine to create one of the country’s premier off-road playgrounds. It’s the perfect place for these machines to stretch their legs far beyond what most trail systems allow and for drivers to experience new driving challenges. With world-class terrain, industry-leading brands, and thousands of like-minded adventurers all in one place, Turn 14 Distribution couldn’t stay on the sidelines. As a sponsor of the 2026 UTV Takeover series, we headed west for a week of riding, product showcases, and connecting with the enthusiasts, dealers, and industry partners driving the powersports community forward.

PUTTING THE HARDWARE TO THE TEST

Driving is what draws the community to Coos Bay. Before the competition even begins, the dunes come alive with group rides carving lines across the sand and solo cruises stretching out into open coastal terrain. It’s the shared rhythm of exploring, learning the terrain, and putting machines through their paces that sets the tone for the week.

Competition is what sharpens it. From strapping into a racing harness to cheering from the ridge lines, the event builds into a series of disciplines designed to test skill and push machines through the gauntlet.

Drag racing is a common practice for motorized platforms. Unlike the prepared surface of a traditional drag strip, the shifting sand and uneven terrain of Coos Bay add a unique challenge that SxSs are purpose-built to conquer. These runs answer one fundamental question fast: who is faster across the sand? Every manufacturer was represented on this dusty 1/16-mile track, with drivers swapping through countless tire and suspension setups to find the right combination of grip on the coarse coastal sand.

For those wanting more than a straight-line sprint, the short course offered a more dynamic racing experience. This event pitted drivers against each other on dual, mirrored lanes that launched across blistering straights, climbed up near-vertical, 75-degree dunes, and snaked through technical curves for a punishing, all-encompassing circuit that delivered dramatic photo finishes.

Then came the undisputed crowd favorite: Huckfest. This head-to-head elimination pool brought out dirt bike daredevils and unflinching UTV drivers determined to deliver their vehicles into the depths of the dunes. Full send is the name of the game: huck their car or bike the farthest in a challenge of bravery. With the masses crowding the bowls to cheer on every single launch, drivers pushed their vehicles into low orbit, testing the absolute limits of their frames and engineering.

HOW THE INDUSTRY SHOWS UP

If driving is how the community shows up, Vendor Row is how the aftermarket industry shows up for the community. Turn 14 Distribution made its presence known, starting with our booth in the heart of Vendor Row. We also brought a selection of our premier partners in the SxS space. Gates Corporation showcased its line of heavy-duty G-Force CVT belts alongside Dynojet’s range of performance clutch kits and Rigid Industries‘ off-road lighting setups. These featured brands represented just a small sample of the extensive selection Turn 14 Distribution offers to support the UTV community.

Walking through the vendor space gave attendees hands-on experience with even more of our partner brands that define the segment. The crew at Sparco walked riders through their latest line of off-road-specific seats, while Rugged Radios was on hand to help drivers dial in their communication systems for the deep dunes. Brands like MBRP, PRP Seats, and Elektric Offroad were also out in full force, showcasing custom builds and proving that the aftermarket isn’t slowing down. There was even a heavy dose of star power on the sand, with celebrity drivers like Blake Wilkey showing up to effortlessly demonstrate top-tier driving abilities in the open bowls.

WHERE STRANGERS BECOME RIDING BUDDIES

As the sun set, the light bars warmed up across the sand, and the schedule was still on full throttle with the countless custom audio systems providing the soundtrack. The energy shifted from crushing hot laps to cracking open cold ones, showing us what this community was really built around—the folks behind the wheel. From crews hanging out by their trailers, swapping trail stories, and prepping for the night rides, the campground became a rolling festival of horsepower and community. Our own Turn 14 Distribution team even jumped in on the fun, getting our hands dirty in the tire change relay to battle it out head-to-head with fellow enthusiasts.

Behind every custom build is months of late-night garage work and a crew that planned, packed, and made the massive trek out to the coast. These are the moments where crews become friends and strangers become riding buddies. When that many people keep coming back for the same passion, you realize UTV Takeover is far more than a standard event—it is the definitive gathering point for the entire powersports culture.

THE RECONNAISSANCE AHEAD

Coos Bay set the tone for the 2026 UTV Takeover event season—time on the trails, time on the line, and time spent with the people who make every mile worth the trip. From the first group rides across the dunes to the final launch of Huckfest, the weekend flowed seamlessly between driving, competition, and community.

That’s what makes UTV Takeover different. It’s more than an event—it’s a gathering built around a shared passion for getting behind the wheel and exploring what these machines are capable of.

With Coos Bay in the books, Turn 14 Distribution is proud to sponsor the entire 2026 UTV Takeover tour. We already have something big planned in partnership with MBRP for our dealer network when the series heads inland to the iconic red rocks of Hurricane, Utah, for the season finale.

We’ll see you in Utah!
