Not Your Dad’s 308: StanceWorks’ 244GTK Lands at Turn 14 HQ

The Ferrari 308 has never been the crown jewel of Maranello’s catalog. Even in the GTBi trim and among the first of the prancing horses to feature new-fangled fuel injection, it remains overlooked by most enthusiasts. For some, that was the draw.

When StanceWorks’ Mike Burroughs found the car, he wasn’t chasing originality. He wasn’t restoring history. He was rewriting it. What began as the forgotten Ferrari of its era has evolved into a sensation. What started as a 1981 308 GTBi is now dubbed the 244GTK by Burroughs. This build carries a whole new spirit, which, if you know, you know.

Now, one of the most talked-about 308s in the world sits in the Turn 14 Distribution lobby. Not preserved. Not polished into nostalgia. Reimagined.

Built for the Build

“I wanted to build the best 308 I could conjure up.” said Burroughs. That mindset set the tone early. Mike’s process and end goal weren’t chasing impossible horsepower figures or making the biggest splash in the community. It was about pushing this platform to new heights, beyond expectations. It wasn’t a restoration, it was a passion project.

Maybe there’s a little spite in it, too. A willingness to challenge purists on the sanctity of classic Ferraris, even the black sheep of the era. The 244GTK was created to prove a point through automotive creativity and ingenuity.

Burroughs didn’t build this car just to be a showpiece. The 244GTK is a competitor, as seen on Gingerman Raceway in South Haven, MI during GRIDLIFE’s 2025 Mid-West Fest event.

Weight Loss Program

The transformation started with weight. Roughly 1,000 pounds were removed from the original chassis, fundamentally changing the way the car behaves. What was once a road-going grand tourer is now fully equipped for dedicated track domination, with GRIDLIFE’s Global Time Attack series in mind.
Burroughs has already proven himself on track through consistent performance in top-tier time attack competition, campaigning purpose-built machinery against some of the fastest cars in North America. The 244GTK follows that same philosophy, being engineered for pace, not parking lots.

The Hardware That Makes It Happen

The 244GTK may spark debate online, but its capability is backed by Mike’s serious engineering and trusted Turn 14 partners.

At the foundation are H&R coilovers, a core element of the build and the reason the car found its way to Turn 14 in the first place. Suspension tuning was not an afterthought. It was the starting point.

Supporting the drivetrain is The Driveshaft Shop, delivering the strength required for sustained track abuse. Thermal management is handled by CSF Cooling, proudly on display through the one-off carbon fiber hood. Turbosmart provided the final suite of go-fast bits that make the 244GTK a serious contender on the track.

The RS Future aero package and Liberty Walk fender Flares gifted the once 308 with a more modern and aggressive silhouette, topped off with functional downforce.

The cherry on top has to be the HRE 300 Classics in gloss charcoal grey wrapped in Falken RT660+ tires. This combination completes the revived retro styling with modern-day grip.

A New Look for a New Chapter

Recently refreshed in a stealthier finish, the 244GTK now sits under the lights at Turn 14 HQ’s lobby before the start of the 2026 Global Time Attack series, as one of the most unique vehicles ever displayed at our headquarters. It is impossible to ignore, and not because it screams for attention, but because it represents the passion that moves this industry forward.

Some will see a Ferrari that lost its way. Others will see a 308 that finally found it.

Either way, it’s not your dad’s 308.

Thank you to StanceWorks and Mike Burroughs for sharing this build with us, and to H&R for coordinating the efforts and transport of the 244GTK.
