Turn 14 Distribution at Philly Supercross: Rain, Ruts & Racing Glory

  • Mud, crashes, and rookie upsets made for one of the most unpredictable Supercross rounds yet.
  • Turn 14 Distribution, ProTaper, and Answer Racing deliver a passion powered Fanfest experience despite rainy weather.
  • Fanfest brings SX fans face-to-face with their favorite riders from the sport’s past and future.
  • TiLube riders Floyd and Colip share personal journeys, highlighting gear importance and supporting grassroots racing.

April’s brief retreat into winter in Philadelphia didn’t keep the surrounding area’s powersports community from invading Lincoln Financial Field on April 12 for round 13 of the 2025 Monster Energy AMA Supercross Championships. Turn 14 Distribution, along with our partners ProTaper and Answer Racing, showed up in force for a weekend packed with racing grit, big energy, and an unforgettable Fanfest experience.

FANFEST: FULL THROTTLE, RAIN OR SHINE

The skies may have opened, but so did the gates—and the fans showed up in droves. Cold and wet weather couldn’t shake the call of buzzing thumper engines and the sweet smell of race fuel. Fanfest delivered on every level, from VIP treatment, an up-close look at the latest off-road riding gear all fueled by Monster Energy’s killer soundtrack

To fill the time until the highly anticipated East vs. West Showdown race, the crowd was treated to a slew of offerings throughout the Fanfest area. We had a prime spot right at the entrance, drawing fans in with an eye-catching spread of ProTaper parts and Answer gear. Our goal was to give riders and non-riders the chance to hold, feel, and learn about the latest products from both brands, including the Titanium Footpegs from ProTaper. As enthusiasts, we know it’s a crucial piece of the parts or gear buying process, and the highest stage of dirt bike racing made the perfect showcase.

Old met new before the race as well. Thanks to the Legends and Heroes of Motocross Tour, vintage iron lined the outer edge of the Fanfest, displaying race bikes of the past and showing the progression of technology in the sport. These old machines had a front-row seat to Kawasaki’s e-bike test track, giving future champions the chance to rip around and feel the rush for themselves.

The main allure of Fanfest is, of course, the unprecedented access fans get to their favorite teams. For the price of a ticket and a can of Monster Energy, race fans get access to the paddock, a rare chance to explore and experience, up close, the talented people behind every part of the support teams. From the flurry of mechanics making adjustments and preparations to help these steel steeds rip through the mud to Dunlop’s constant stream of tire mounting, just about the entire process is on display.

Patient fans are also rewarded by gaining face time with their favorite riders. Names like Aaron Plessinger made an impromptu appearance in front of the Red Bull KTM trailer, and TiLube Honda Racing teammates Ryder Floyd, Trevor Colip, and Patrick Murphy made their way to the Turn 14 booth for a mixture of signing gear, talking shop, and standing shoulder-to-shoulder with the next generation of racers.

RIDER REFLECTIONS: FROM GRASSROOTS TO GRIME

For Ryder Floyd and Trevor Colip of TiLube Honda Racing, Philadelphia wasn’t just another round on the schedule—it was a testament to grit, growth, and gratitude.

Ryder Floyd, a pro since 2018, has carved his way through the sport. He started as a privateer racing out of the back of his van, and while the journey hasn’t always been smooth, he says, “It’s a very unique path, but it’s mine to walk down—and I’m very proud of it.” Now backed by TiLube Honda, Floyd approaches Philadelphia’s mud-soaked challenge with a positive mindset and embraces every opportunity to make the team and its sponsors proud.

Floyd and his teammate Trevor Colip came into the weekend with momentum, confident in their preparation with the support from partner brands. Floyd, a fan of Answer Racing’s gear even before the sponsorship, noted how far the gear has progressed in both design and material. He emphasized how critical it is to have fresh gear, especially after a race as muddy as this one.

Colip echoed the importance of quality equipment and team backing, saying, “I’m really thankful that we have all of these products to help us go race and have us ready for the next one.” Colip mentioned the benefit of the ProTaper footpegs’ design, noting their ability to keep the foot controls clear of slick mud, making him feel more in control of his CRF250R.

Building off a strong performance the previous week, Colip approached Philadelphia with a clear strategy. “In the mud, it’s not about being the fastest guy—it’s about being the smartest and most consistent,” he explained. He also highlighted how important clean starts are in these conditions, where visibility and traction disappear fast. Take notes, young riders.

And while racing can be a solitary battle on the track, Floyd knows he’s not alone out there. “The only person I have to rely on out on the track is Trevor,” he said, underscoring the tight bond between teammates when the racing gets tough.

Beyond parts and strategy, both riders reflected on what keeps them grounded in the sport. Floyd traced his passion back to childhood visits to his local dealership. “I was that little kid in the shop, in awe. Trying on all the gear, looking at the bikes—that’s where it all started,” said Floyd. Still making a point to support his local dealer, saying, “They’re the backbone of this sport.”

Offering some advice to young riders following in their tracks, Colip said, “Don’t put too much pressure on yourself when you’re young. Keep it fun—that’s why we all got into this in the first place.”

Be sure to stay tuned for our upcoming videos featuring Ryder Floyd, Trevor Colip, and other Supercross superstars.

RACE TIME: MUD, MAYHEM & MAJOR PERKS

As we weathered the storm at FanFest, what happened to the track? Thanks to the overnight storms and consistent drizzle, a muddy battlefield awaited racers waging single-cylinder war to claim the top spot. Meanwhile, a selection of key Turn 14 Distribution dealers soaked up the action surrounded by warmth, shelter from the storms, live broadcast coverage, and refreshments at the suite level. With a second week in a row of cold, wet, and slimy racing, our group of partners, dealers, and their guests welcomed the hospitality, as the rest of the spectators settled in for a night of raw and unpredictable racing out in the elements.

250: EAST VS. WEST & A ROOKIE SHOCKER

  • West Region: Supercross legend in the making, Haiden Deegan, fought his way to the front for a commanding win in a stacked 250 West lineup.
  • East Region: Seth Hammaker took the East win, holding off RJ Hampshire in a tight finish.
  • Last Chance Qualifier Drama: In the Last Chance Qualifier, fans were on the edge of their seats as Munoz edged out Neese to claim the final slot in the main event, with Gavin Towers taking the top spot. Tom Vialle also got a second chance in the main event after his crash during the East region qualifier.
  • 250 Main Event: Chaos struck early. A holeshot pile-up took down RJ Hampshire, but the race was red-flagged after Daxton Bennick suffered a crash. On restart, Hampshire regrouped and took the early lead—but rookie Cole Davies had other plans. He hunted down the leaders and clinched a massive victory, turning heads in his rookie year.

450: BIG HITS, BIG COMEBACKS

  • Heat 1: Fan-favorite Aaron Plessinger went bar-to-bar with Cooper Webb to take a thrilling win.
  • Heat 2: A stuck rider cost Justin Cooper the lead, opening the door for Chase Sexton to take the checkered flag.
  • Main Event: Another holeshot pile-up put Plessinger on the ground, but the crowd erupted as he clawed his way back to finish 8th. At the front, his teammate Chase Sexton stayed smooth under pressure and powered to a well-earned victory.
