Earlier this month, Pit+Paddock and Evasive Motorsports hosted more than 250 guests at Evasive’s new 20,000 square foot facility in Cerritos, California. The main attraction of the event was the unveiling of the Tesla Model 3 set to race at the Pikes Peak International Hill Climb on June 27, 2021, but there was so much more to see and experience that went beyond the all-electric race car.
STARTING GRID CAR SHOW
It’s easy to fill a parking lot with cars but figuring out a configuration that displays them in a new and exciting way takes some extra thought and effort. This is why we were stoked when the initial concept of a starting grid actually looked the part after the lines were painted and some of Evasive’s most memorable time attack builds were parked, including its famous Evo VIII that raced at Super Lap Battle more than 10 years ago and its Voltex widebody S2000 — a car rumored to be competing at this year’s Global Time Attack Finals in November. Throw in Dai Yoshihara’s Civic Type R-powered AE86 and S2000-powered Mercedes 190E, and it made for one of the dopest displays of race cars I’ve seen outside of a track event.
FULL HOUSE
As guests made their way through the green grass-walled entrance installed for the day, they ran into many industry friends and guests on hand, which included the folks at ENEOS, Toyo Tires (thanks for bringing the Toyo girls and the rig out!), KW Suspension, CSF and more. There was also no shortage of auto influencers, either, with Dustin Williams, Emelia Hartford, RJ DeVera, Sara Choi, Ken Gushi, and more in the house. It honestly felt like a SEMA party more than an open house, and that is truly what made it feel special for Pit+Paddock and Evasive Motorsports to bring the community together.
LIFESTYLE
In addition to the cars, we offered an experience that kept everyone around over an hour after the event was slated to shut its doors. Not one soul had a bad thing to say about the fried chicken sandwiches and tenders provided by Eat Bolo. A full bar sponsored by ENEOS with iconic Japanese beers by Kirin made for a fun atmosphere, not to mention a track-like hospitality suite took up a third of the venue. Shoutout to Fresh Prints for the photo booth setup, and of course, no one went home empty-handed thanks to a collab t-shirt drop with Japangeles and a pin drop with Leen Customs.
PIT+PADDOCK WAY
What I really want people to take away from the pop-up with Evasive Motorsports is that Pit+Paddock is more than just a digital magazine but a lifestyle brand that will continue to bring the community and industry partners together in new and exciting ways. Whether it’s another merch drop in the future or an event that celebrates another car, shop, or individual who makes this industry a better and more positive place, you can bet Pit+Paddock will be about that. So stay tuned for the next big thing because we’re just getting started!
